Dan Smith from California and Ed Mays from Minnesota went fishing with Tom and Alex during the second week in April 2004. This was Dan's second visit to the Rio Negro Sport fishing lodge in the past month and Ed's first visit to Panama and the lodge. All four days of fishing were good with a total catch of 17 species. Being the week before Easter, much of the catch was brought back for local families. Dan & Ed's catch included Cubera, Yellow, Spot, & Colorado Snappers, Yellow-fin, Albacore & Skip Jack Tunas, Wahoo, Pompano, Jack Crevalle, Amberjack, Alamaco Jack, Dorado,  Broomtail and Rock hind Groupers, Bonito and Corbina. Jigging for Snapper and popping for Tuna was spectacular with over 100 of each species caught. The Wahoo paid us surprise visits the first three days with too many cutoffs while jigging and popping so the final day we re-rigged and trolled. The total Wahoo count was six. Roy Sampilo and 10 year old son RJ visited the lodge the following week. Their first day was very good but the fishing activity slowed down over their final two days. Roy & RJ's catch included Amberjack, Almaco Jack, Roosterfish, Broomtail Grouper, Yellow, Spot & Colorado Snapper, Jack Crevalle, Pompano, Skip jack & Yellowfin Tuna and Dorado. They also had a live Bonito taken by a Marlin. Tom and Alex were so impressed with RJ's performance that he has been offered a summer job as a deck hand when he turns 15. Finally, Jake McClough and Lars Morris from Salt Lake City, Utah visited the lodge for the the first time in the last week of April 2004. Jake and Lars had a nice catch that included Roosterfish, Cubera Snapper, Yellow-fin Tuna, Amberjack, Trevally, and Hound-fish.
