Ed Mays from Saint James, Minnesota & Dave Phipps from Burnsdale, Minnesota were guests at Rio Negro during the first week of April 2005. The fish bite was good their first two days, especially for Roosterfish and Amberjack, but declined their last two days. They had several break offs from big fish that couldn't be stopped and caught lots of small snappers jigging in addition to the large rod benders caught on live bait. A little bonus catch on their last day were three big Corbinas jigged out of 100 feet of water. They lost count of species after catching over 20 different ones during their stay.
Will Portzel & Ralph Kettelkam from California followed during the second week in April for four days of fishing. The bite remained slow the first two days but picked up later during their stay. Among their catch were Amberjack, Roosterfish, Pompano, Crimson, Yellow, Spot, Jordan & Cubera Snappers, Cero Mackarel and Yellow-fin Tuna. They also lost several large fish to rocks on the bottom.
