After a 3 week break, we hosted our first guests in February 2005. Miguel Soto & Mike Cross from Ft. Lauderdale took their third fishing vacation to Rio Negro for three days during the week of 21-23 February 2005. The bite was very good their first day and second day and slowed their last day on the full moon. Their first day Miguel & Mike jigged up over 30 schoolmaster snappers in the 3 to 6 pound range and caught three large amberjack with live bait. They also had two break offs with large mystery fish. Their second day they caught several amberjacks and a nice Crimson Snapper on jigs and one very large amberjack on live bait. They also caught several Yellow-fin Tunas on jigs and trolling deep divers. Their third day was slow until after noon when they caught three Colorado Snappers on Popper. They also caught a large amberjack and a Broomtail Grouper on live bait. Our final guests in February were Lou Ret, Mark Nelson, Steve Hutchings, Fred Colacchio and his father Fred, all from South Florida and Don Laporte from Telluride, Colorado. The fish bite was excellent during their visit. The catch included lots of Amberjacks and a wide variety of  Snappers.  They also caught Broomtail Grouper, Blue Trevally, African Pompano, Wahoo, Cero Mackerel and Roosterfish. Their final day they had the rare opportunity to see up close an Orca Whale feeding on small Manta Rays.
