Paul Kiefner and his sister Malissa Kalisek from Maryland visited us in the 2nd week of February 2006. They did a combination of jigging, popping & fishing with live bait. They had marginal success popping with several strikes and break-offs but did very well jigging and fishing live bait. Their catch included a wide variety of game fish including Wahoo, Amberjack, Roosterfish, Yellow fin Tuna, Rock hind Grouper, Broomtail Grouper, Corvina, Mancha Snapper, Hound fish, Cero Mackerel and Cubera Snapper. Paul & Mel were followed by Ed Kersey, Jim Clary & Lee Barns, all from Florida. The fish bite was slower than the prior week but they each caught big fish every day. Popping and live bait fishing was productive for Big Roosterfish, Cubera Snapper and Amberjack but they had no luck jigging. The Corvina, better known by Ed, Jim & Lee as "ghost fish" were particularly elusive this week. Our final group in February was John Mazzella & Richard Sanford from Connecticut. Poor Murf couldn't make it down. The fish bite was very good through out their visit. They caught lots of big Grouper, Roosterfish and Amberjack along with a large variety of smaller fish species.
