Don Huey, Ken Zawacki, Garry Dovenberg, and Bill Pelter went fishing with Tom Giles, Alex Livingston and guest captain Jorge Bloise, the week of 4 January 2003. This was their second visit to Mariato, Panama. They fished a large span of water from Punta Mariato to Coiba. Lots of Dorado, Tuna and Bill Fish were sighted but fish activity was generally slow. They caught a few Dorado and Tuna, raised and hooked up several sailfish.
Chuck Moore, Chuck's son Dan and Dan's future father in law, Sam went fishing in Panama with Tom Giles, Alex Livingston and guest captain Jorge Bloise 16 thru 18 January 03. Doug CaJacob, Joe Sanborn, Rick Jefson Gil Fernandez and Tim Reinevil (Pop-Eye) joined the party to fish the following week as Dan and Sam departed on 19 Jan. Carl Winkler also joined us as a guest captain to fish the following week. Fishing activity had been very slow the prior two weeks and proved slow again the first day out with Jorge. Activity picked up the second day out with Tom when a good tuna bite (30-45 pound range) happened in the afternoon. Fishing activity continued to improve throughout their visit with many more nice Tuna, several Sailfish, lots of Amberjacks, Roosterfish and a Broomtail Grouper and a Cubera Snapper. Some of the fish were caught trolling and poping but most of the larger fish were caught on live bait.
