Fishing activity during the first half of January 2007 was as slow as we have seen. Baits were plentiful but almost impossible to catch and there were strong winds out of the east making fishing very difficult. Our first guests for January were John Buckner, Denis Toohey, Doug Johnson and Paul, all from California. With an exceptional hit on popper or live bonito, the overall fish bite was very slow. Fishing activity the second half of January was good. The wind and seas were moderate and baits were much easier to catch. Our second guests were Mike Leoni, Jerry Wyles, John and Chet Bush, all from Florida. The fish bite was very good at the beginning of their visit but tapered off. They caught large roosterfish, sailfish, Amberjack, Cubera Snapper and Colorado Snapper. Our final guests were Gordon Brauninger (Gordo) and Cal Cunningham. The fish bite was also very good for them at first but tapering off. Cal and Gordo caught mostly Cubera Snappers, Colorado Snappers and Amberjack and a Roosterfish. Gordo caught the largest Colorado Snapper we have seen so far.
