June 06, while at anchor during a major over night squall, the Magoo's hull and console were damaged and the t-top and transom were destroyed. So in preparation for new engine refit, we decided to completely overhaul the Magoo with all the changes we have been considering, before the start of our 06/07 season in November. On 2 Aug 06 we began our project by moving the Magoo to a new worksite that would not disturb our old neighbors our new neighbors have been much more tolerant of such activities. On this site, we built a temporary work shed 16 feet wide, 40 feet long and 14 feet high. While the shed was being constructed, we worked on Phase 1 of the project, demolitions. We removed the old transom, motor box, front two thirds of the deck, fuel tank and sanding all areas to be modified or repaired.

In Phase 2 we fabricated and installed a new transom & motor box, sealed and isolated from the boat with a new rear bulkhead. The new motor box will contain two motor flotation cells and a sealed sea locker in the center for wash down pumps and a transducer.

In Phase 3 we fabricated and installed four additional bulkheads forward of the fuel tank that provide four isolated flotation cells and two large storage boxes below deck.

On 2 Sept 06 we completed Phase 4 with the fabrication of six new deck panels, two with hatch bases for access to the storage boxes.

In Phase 5 we flipped the Magoo to refinish and paint the hull.

With the Magoo flipped, we merged our project phases with console rebuild and t-top fabrication.

On 23 Sept we flipped the Magoo again and placed it back on the trailer.

A little entertainment in the corral next door while we work.

The fuel tank and deck was installed on 2 Oct.

The completed console with t-top was installed on 9 Oct.

On 18 October, we completed the fabrication and installation of the Captains seat and hatch covers, then on 19-20  October, we finished the week, painting Magoo's interior. This time we used webbing solution instead of Alex's infamous artwork to splatter the inside.

With our new 4-stroke outboards and electronics installed, we launched Magoo on 31 October and started breaking in the engines. At this point we have 12 days to spare before or first fishing guests arrive on 13 November.
